About Us
Founder's Words
We have taken care of the worst types of neurological patients at the neurosurgical team. It is truly saddening to see rows of comatose or bedbound patients with hemi/paraplegia. With limited resources and manpower, it is simply impossible to provide adequate rehabilitation to each and every single one of them.
I have left the public hospital after being asked to provide a comprehensive rehab for a comatose patient. Seeing him gradually regained his consciousness, then his mobility and feeding ability, reminded me that our mission as a neurological physiotherapist is to maximize our patients' recovery.
This is the mission of EC Stroke Rehabilitation.

Profound cases
Seeing patients getting mobile again and resuming their lives means the most to us. We have two impressive cases that we would like to share with you:
The first patient was in a minimally conscious state following traumatic brain injury. He was bedbound and had developed symptoms of atypical Parkinsonism. After receiving non-invasive brain stimulation, he gradually became more alert and started to follow simple command. Therefore he could finally adhere to intensive rehab program, and could later travel between his bathroom and bedroom with his maid's assistance. Just before every Chinese New Year, he will help fill up the red pockets which are to be given to the children.
We have had another stroke patient suffering from hemorrhage. Her family initially had limited hope in her and was super excited that she could wean off the nasogastric tube and feed on puree diet by herself following a month of rehab. Later, we worked on her mobility after the previous success and she was discharged with the ability of walking with a frame indoor.
Our Target
Integrated Neurological Rehabilitation
Physiotherapist Cheng Wing Cheung Elliot closely collaborates with Pine Care Group (under Chinachem Group) to provide stroke rehabilitation for patients suffering a severe stroke.
Severe stroke patients are often forgotten and given up on. They are a victim of a wide-spread infarct / intracranial hemorrhage, lesion at a critical area, or delayed acute management. They most often present with disorder of consciousness (vegetative state), dense hemiplegia (Gr. 0 lower and upper limb, total flaccidity) and / or inability to self-feed (need to rely on a nasogastric tube).
They are often greeted with labels including "they have zero rehab potential", "it's way past the golden recovery stage, just give up", "brain tissues are dead, plain and simple".
As long as you still have a glimmer of hope for your beloved family member, as long as you still haven't given up, all these labels are mere noises. A daughter of our patient has once told us, if these kinds of stroke rehab technologies were here a few years back, it would be a great news for her whole family. If you haven't yet given up on your family member, you belong to the more fortunate ones.
Not every stroke patient is fit for therapy, if you would like to know whether your family or you meet the criteria, you are welcome to go through Our Past Clinical Cases, and you can book an appointment to consult with our physiotherapist Cheng Wing Cheung Elliot.
If you would like to know what our patients have gone through previously, you can check out the Patient Journey.
